Job Description
The Communications Operations Head will lead global product, site and employee communications activities. He or she will support the company’s senior management at all levels creating and executing strategic communications programs that accurately position, interpret and convey company business strategy, goals and actions to employees and the general public. He or she will concentrate on strategic employee communications programs to support the integration of Pathway Technologies into MEDRAD and MEDRAD and Contrast Media into Radiology and Interventional and support broad long term cultural change management programs to build a shared, motivating culture for the new business. He or she will also act as a consultant to management, recommending programs to enhance the Company's image in the market place and help leadership enact the company’s and BHC-wide business and cultural initiatives (LIFE, Company vision/strategy, WLI, Marketing Excellence) in the employee population. The incumbent will be responsible for keeping abreast of competing products markets, and industry developments to ensure the proper placement and success of our global product public relations plans and alerting US and global communications leadership to important activities or emerging issues in the US market. This position will serve as an official spokesperson for the businesses and may separately or in conjunction with other corporate and communications executives worldwide represent the company’s positions on business issues with key media representatives, and will establish and manage relationships with local opinion leaders, community leaders, business organizations and employees. He or she will also oversee functional team leads in meetings management to provide seamless, broad support to globally-based operations.

This position will be responsible for the development and execution of strategic positioning of global leadership messages for the company’s Medical Care Business units globally, working with company and BAG globally based regional communications colleagues to execute global initiatives and announcements. This position will be responsible for developing and executing communications for external presentations for industry groups and key message points for media interviews as appropriate. This position will also work in partnership with the respective external Product PR communicators both US and Global for all product areas, ensuring alignment with executive and corporate goals. This position will also develop and execute strategic internal communications to ensure awareness and understanding of the Company’s Medical Care products among employees and across the company.

The incumbent will have oversight for the global Medical Care communications budget and will work to ensure that expenditures are made in the most appropriate and efficient tactical manner to achieve business goals. Critical skills are the ability to work under pressure, change priorities smoothly and multi-task with tight deadlines; to synthesize information from various sources to develop comprehensive communications programs and messages; and to think strategically and implement programs. Strong leadership skills and the ability to focus on goals are also essential.
Position Requirements
Skills / Industry Qualifications Required:Candidate Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with significant experience with public relations/strategic communications experience from a medical device company, hospital, or public relations agency preferred. Media relations experience and strong communication abilities including presentation, verbal and written skills.

• Proven track record (7-10 years of experience) of developing strategic global corporate communications and public relations programming.

• A combination of corporate and agency experience, in addition to an understanding of the industry and the issues and challenges it faces, preferred.

• Proven strategic writing skills.

• Proven media relations skills and relationships with top tier media; experience as a corporate spokesperson.

• Ability to manage a number of programs/projects simultaneously with budget responsibility. Able to be hands-on as well as strategic. A “team player” who can lead by example, with high accountability for his/her actions.

• Proven ability to manage staff effectively. Strong ability to develop, mentor and motivate staff to achieve their highest potential, in a manner that encourages enthusiasm and passion and creates a productive and nurturing atmosphere.

• Demonstrated ability to counsel and effectively influence senior management.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels of management. Ability to project a confident leadership image to peers, subordinates and management.

• Bias for strategic communications program development and clear results. A business executive, not just a communications executive. Understands how communications can influence business results.

• Excellent presentation and communication skills. An outstanding writer.

• Outstanding judgment, with a balance of confidence, maturity, refinement and high energy.

• The key challenge will be in handling multiple and fast changing priorities, establishing and maintaining effective and efficient channels of communication with new media, government agencies and opinion leaders. Incumbent should be able to develop a proactive approach to maintain effective, current and relevant communication plans.

• Ability to travel, manage communications staff in global locations.

• Demonstrated ability to counsel and effectively influence senior management. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels of management. Ability to project a confident leadership image to peers, subordinates and management.

• Bias for strategic communications program development and clear results. A business executive, not just a communications executive. Understands how communications can motivate employees, build a cohesive culture and influence business results.

Candidates Must Have:

• Proven track record (7-10 years of experience) of developing strategic global corporate communications.

• Strong external and internal global corporate communications experience.
