JOB SUMMARY:
Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.
About the Position:This position is located in the US Army Accessions Comand, US Recruiting Brigade (SW), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The applicant has the opportunity to work with both Military and Civilian personnel. This position under Career Progam Number 51.Who May Apply:

Duties:
· Receives
telephone calls and visitors; ascertains nature of visit and refers to
supervisor or staff member as appropriate; personally responds to
routine and non-technical requests for information.
· Receives
and reads all correspondence, reports, directives, etc. for the Command
Group and attaches previous related correspondence or other background
information before routing to the Commander.
· Transmits,
receives and acknowledges electronic mail and messages. Maintains
suspense on incoming or outgoing correspondence or material for Command
Group; advises staff members of approaching deadlines and follows-up to
ensure a timely reply or action.
· Reviews
outgoing correspondence or other material submitted for Commander's
signature for conformance with known policies, proper format, spelling
and punctuation, proper enclosures, etc. and returns to originator that
correspondence requiring corrections.
· Arranges
meetings and conferences for superior, notifying participants of time,
place and topic; keeps supervisor's appointment calendar; and retrieves
materials from office files based on supervisor's requirements- Prepares
reports on leave, visitors to the battalion, visits of General
Officers, etc.
· Prepares
correspondence, reports and other material in final form from rough
draft, notes or oral instructions- Uses word processing software and
printing equipment to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print a
variety of documents.
· Assignments
involve narrative, tabular, and statistical data. Assures proper
arrangement, spacing, format, grammar, and spelling.
· Maintains time and attendance records for battalion civilian personnel.

Specialized experience: To Qualify applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level GS-04.
Specialized experience is defined as: performing a variety of clerical
and administrative duties to include experience in screening incoming
calls and visitors; establishing files; preparing and reviewing
correspondence; and taking minutes.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
· Knowledge of Office Automation
· Knowledge of General Clerical Skills
· Skills in Secretarial/Administrative Functions
· Skills in Correspondence Preparation

Education
