Job Description
•Assists the plant organization in accomplishing the company and plant’s policy by continuously improving the organization’s capabilities.
•Manufactures products from raw materials; meeting quality, cost and delivery.
•Ensures quality in all transactions of steering column production and services to customer, company, and plant specifications.
•Coordinates and performs all activities required to procure items to satisfy the transformation process of satisfying customer product orders.
•Assists in setting product specifications with product engineering, develops manufacturing specifications, maintains and improves the production machinery and support systems capability. Interfaces with other areas of the company to learn technological developments.
•Establishes and manages a positive employee relations climate. Maintains and improves the relationship with customers, corporate leaders, suppliers, community and government.
•Plans and measures activities of the transformation processes financially. Sets budget by continuously setting improved targets over the results and according to the business level requirements.
•Assist the Plant Manager in developing an effective policy for the plant and drive its implementation throughout the year.
Position Requirements
Skills / Industry Qualifications Required:•Support and facilitate a safe and healthy working environment by continuously reviewing processes and procedures to eliminate hazards.
•Attain and lead towards the highest quality levels, minimizing scrap, rework, and lost-time etc.
•Maximize and monitor project schedules and monitors production flow while assuring a quality product.
•Drive the Plant towards profitability by reducing costs and increasing efficiency while ensuring customer satisfaction at all levels including quality, cost and delivery.
•Insure the standards on the shop floor are being maintained and followed.  Also, insure that good housekeeping and waste elimination are entrenched in the plant culture.
•Assists in hiring and training new employees and assists in the development of departmental budgets for attainment of plant goals.
•Defining and anticipating problems is critical.  This position has broad decision making responsibility and has primary control over results.
•Works with data which is available but not always directly related to the issue at hand and required further research and refinement.  Examines and analyzes information in accordance with established guidelines and practices.
•Required the development of ideas resulting in the relation of new methods, services, or products.
•This job defines broad work plans based on existing strategy and goals of the organization and has full responsibility for budget development and control of expenditures with the approved budget.
•This job constantly moves between multiple tasks
•This job is accountable for an annual operating budget.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
This job requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 4 to 6 years of Automotive manufacturing experience; the preferred formal education is a Master’s degree and 6 to 8 years of position-related experience.

The preparation of internal correspondence, external correspondence and speeches/presentations is a frequent responsibility of this job.
