Seattle City Light, a department of the City of Seattle, is one of the nation’s largest municipally owned utilities in terms of the number of customers served. Over the years we have worked very hard to keep Seattle's electricity affordable, reliable, and environmentally sound. Today, City Light is a recognized national leader in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.

In support of the Low Income Rate Assistance Project, this position plans, develops, prepares, distributes, and/or evaluates a variety of public relations or involvement programs and materials. Participates in planning, developing, and implementing marketing strategies or public involvement plans for departmental projects and programs. This position will report to the Public Relations Supervisor leading the Low Income Project.
 Job Responsibilities:
  • Identify and implement strategic methods to engage underserved communities and develop innovative ways to engage the public with digital and traditional public engagement methods.
  • Coordinate creation of lay out and edit communications materials including information bulletins, brochures, posters, listserv announcements, newsletters and PowerPoint presentations
  • Advise management and staff on emerging community engagement and customer concerns.
  • Create and update website materials to advertise program 
  • Plan and support meetings with other agencies and the public
  • Coordinate & participate in community engagement/outreach events
 Qualifications:
Requires one year professional experience in public relations, marketing, journalism, or other field involving the preparation and distribution of public information materials and a Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, business or related field (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
 
Certification/License: Driver's license or equivalent mobility.
