Career Guidance- Advice For Graduates

Education and Career Guidance go hand in hand and it’s the duty of the institutions to train their graduates for career progression. As academic qualifications plays a vital role in choosing a career so why not guide those students at this point of time so that they can select what to study if they want to choose a specific career. It’s really important that students are aware of these fact as these are something’s which will really be helpful for them in the future when they will be findingjobs in Pakistan or jobs in Lahore.

Career is a lifelong journey and a process of continually developing skills and personal qualities but what career guidance or career advice would you give to somebody that really hasn’t a clue. Students should be groomed with those skills and personal qualities that are transferable so that they can adapt things easily. Of course Education is mandatory but students also need to be able to make decisions, choices and be creative thinkers because today we live in era when students will have more than one careers. They will have to play different roles with changing organizations needs and have to reinvent themselves many items.

Learning is a life-long process and people should never hesitate to learn new things. With changing technologies and needs of the market many students may need training or they have to study further to retain their jobs in Pakistan. Career advice and career guidance are very closely linked at secondary education as here teachers and coaches need to guide and help the student with the skills and self knowledge for further progress.

There are many reasons why a graduate should consider postgraduate study and they should choose to study what can help them in their employment. Usually students face difficulty as what to choose for post graduate studies but my advice for them is that they should choose that course which helps them to grow in their career and in that specific field of study.

Students should also keep in mind that in the world of business a Master degree has become essential if you need to call by companies for interviews whereas it’s also a fact that in many careers experience is often valued more than additional qualifications.
